Sir Simon Rattle and the Berliner Philharmoniker at Symphony Hall

Photos by Robert Torres

On November 11, 2016, Sir Simon Rattle performed at Boston’s Symphony Hall for the final time in his current role as Chief Conductor of the Berliner Philharmoniker. On the program were Boulez’ Éclat (for fifteen diverse instruments, including glockenspiel and mandolin) and Mahler’s Seventh Symphony. We were blown away, and the capacity crowd showed their appreciation with a prolonged ovation.

Below are just a few extraordinary photos from the Mahler 7th that convey some of the energy, excitement, and power that Sir Simon Rattle and the orchestra brought to Boston.
